Primo

Genre | Thriller | Feature

Synopsis

“The world of the ballet is kill or be killed. If you don’t shoot first, you’re dead.” - Nikolay Tsiskaridze, Principal Dancer, Bolshoi Ballet

Primo is a London set thriller that takes its inspiration from the notorious machinations within Russian ballet companies. In recent years there have been death threats, acid attacks, abductions and accusations of ballerinas being pimped out to oligarchs.

Set in a world of corrupt politicians, oligarchs and the Russian underworld, Primo follows the twisted life of dancer and now fugitive Mikki Rykov. Framed for murder and on the run from both the London Police and the Russian Mafia, Mikki must attempt to prove his innocence and fight for his survival.

With nods to the prodigious and volatile talent of Sergei Polunin, the youngest ever principal at the Royal Ballet, who walked out in a cloud of controversy, Primo throws a young, hot-headed dancer into a desperate fight for survival.

Primo shines a light on a world where excruciating physical, technical and artistic demands create a ruthlessly ambitious breed paving the way for a genuinely new type of action hero.
